Hey all,
buying the statesman off my old man for a first car (im only 16) but i want to have a bit more bass in the car than the stock 12 speakers allow. What im looking at for the moment is dual 12'' kicker cvrs (800w each to make 1600w total with 800wrms) and then i would get a 1600w monoblock amp to power it.
What im not sure about is if the stock battery will be enough to power this setup, the best way to go about installing this kind of system and if there is any place in adelaide that someone knows about where i could get this installed, as ive never dealt with installing car audio before. Also im wondering if this is just ridiculus and maybe i should just stay with the stock speakers and leave it at that.
Any help will be greatly appreciated,
Thanks guys,
Adam
The CVRS are only 400rms each, so you'll only need 800wrms.. either way with correct wiring the stock battery will be fine with in most cases.. Also make sure you look at the Impedance when you buy them, you don't want them wired at 1ohm on an amp thats not 1ohm stable.. As for installers in Adelaide i cant really help...
@ spxdsn a 1600w monoblock is the same as 800wrms because rms is just half the full wattage, but its good to know that the stock battery should be able to handle the subs with no problem
RMS is not equal to half of the peak.I don't know who told you that.
Yes, you should be fine running an amp of that output with your stock alternator/wiring.
Because the amp will actually draw more current than anything else connected to your electrical system, chances are you will notice voltage drops going elsewhere, such as dimming of the headlights, before you experience any issues with the amp/sub themselves.
Have you decided how you will connect the amplifier yet, LOC, high level input ect?
Are you allready set of the CVR's? If not, there are a few sub's out there for a similiar price, which would offer better perfomance and value for money.
