Default Help a noob out. LOL

Ok so wanna get my sub and amp wired up o sunday myself. Have helped a few mates with installs before but never done one completely myself. So a little help needed. lol
There are already 2 RCA leads in the boot so im set for connecting the HU up.
I know how to run the power cable with the inline fuse to the boot and hook that up.
I know how to connect the brown earth wire up in the boot.
I know how to connect the sub up to the Amp so no probs there.
My question is this. Is there anything else im missing? I have a thin wire that comes in my wiring pack thats a Rem wire? And I know where the Rem connection on my amp is, but wher do I connect the other end to and whats its purpose?
Thanks for any help anyone can give me!

The thin wire needs to connect to the blue / white wire in the head-units wiring. It tells the amp to turn on and off with the head-unit.

Thats about it, make sure you connect the earth wire to a good, solid part of the car and sand back the area to bare metal before attaching the cable.

BTW youre not really a noob, you know how to do 90% of it

Ahhh ok. Cool. Thanks guys. Its kinda odd then that I have RCA leads in the boot (which would imply previous owner had an amp) yet no rem wire :S lol. There is another wire along with the RCA leads but it has a weird connection on the end that a mate of mine said was probably for a stacker or something. But sweet, I should be all set for the install now.
ps. Yeah I know the basics but I more meant noob as in never done it before 100% by myself. lol. Will see how I go on sunday, I might be back on with more questions. Haha

You'll be right, just make sure you run the rem wire otherwise your battery will go dead frequently.

some rca cables have a thin remote wire run up the middle of them, you sure thats not there?
could save a bit of wire routing.

So to confirm, I attach the REM (small wire) from my amp, to the blue cable with white strip on it behind my HU?

that is correct. as others have said its a trigger wire to turn the amplifier on and off. the wire should be labeled on your head unit as well.

Install all done. All wired in and running well. Took a little bit of time working out the wires behind the head unit as whoever put the HU in made a mess of the wiring. LOL. But got it all sorted. Was a bit of a pain as the power cable that came with my wiring kit barely reached from the battery to my amp, and the REM wire was about 1m short of reaching (so I just spilt a length of speaker wire and used one side) Am happy with it for my first solo time anyway
I want to get a better looking set up in the boot though. So as its not just a sub in a box with an amp next to it. lol. But I have no tools (and skills lol)etc to make an enclosure myself at the moment so that may be some time off
    Thanks for everyones replys guys!

Good to hear youve got it done, its a pity about the head-unit wiring......might pay to re-do it properly one day?

Yeah the power cable kits dont leave you with much length once it gets into the boot in commodores.

Yeah a full re-wire of the HU and speakers is on the cards soon-ish as I have a different HU to install anyway. But for now at least I have my sub and amp in. And yeah was def tight with the cable. Lol. And think I got the whole install done with only bashing my head about... 16 times in the boot. Hahahah
