I am in the middle of my installation. Got a few questions.
I have an MB Quart RAB450 amp (4x50w guaranteed minimum power)
Kenwood KAC-8401 amp 60Wx4 RMS/180Wx2, max power 640W
Kenwood KAC-8101D amp 200Wx1 RMS @ 4ohms
I am going to run my 12 inch Cadence UD 124-H SUB off the KAC-8101D and put the amp in the back of the wagon with the sub box (on either side) so that's no problem.
But here it is. I have a set off Fusion splits in the front doors and stockies in the back doors at the moment. I was going to run the MB quart amp to the fusions bridged and the KAC-8401 to the rears. The problem is where do I put them? Under the passenger seat for the MB Quart, but where do I put the other amp?
My other options are to
a) forget the rear amp
or b) use the MB Quart in 4 channel mode and run to the rear speakers
Any ideas? I am not putting anything on the back of the rear seat as I still carry stuff in the back, hence my "tidy" install.
Ok, so just run the rear speakers off the headunit?
BTW I have 5.3m of 0 gauge power cable. 3m, 2.8m and 1m sections of 8 gauge cable. A fuse block for 0 gauge, and 1 for 8 gauge. And a dist block for 4 gauge.
So what I was thinking is running the 0 gauge to the front seat, using the dist block and splitting the 8 gauge to the seat amp and running the other 8 gauge cable to the sub amp.
Or running the 0 gauge to the sub amp, then running 8 from there back to the front seat for the speaker amp.
Unsure on the best way.
I don't need heaps of power, I just want better sound.
Also would it be better to run the cable down the centre of the car, or down the side? In my previous cars I have ran it down one side of the car, but I have never put an amp under the seat before, only subs in boot.
I would use the 0awg for your monoblock, youve got 3m of 8awg cable so why not just run this straight from the battery the under the seat? That way you wont need to muck around with distribution blocl and running 8awg to your mono. You can get 4awg fork terminals for the Kenwood mono, just give the 0awg a "haircut" so it will fit into the 4awg terminal
Heres the terminals:
