Default Will this be enough power YES or NO

i have an alpine 12' type R sub all ready to go but i need some advice on what amps to look at. atm ill just be running the sub with my stock VR speakers. Ive been into Alberts and of course they directed me straight to a $700 amp. but i think that's a bit overboard. i then went to bunbury hi fi, and i shown the same amp. but then i went to audiocom, told them what type of sub i have and they basically gave me completely different advice to anywhere else. this is what they showed me

Sony Xplod XMGTR3301D.$299 they said this amp had more than enough power to power 2 of the same sub i have

and they also showed me this

Pioneer 1200 Watt Class-D Mono Block Amplifier & Bass Remote, $400. they said this would probly be too powerfull for my sub and would possible blow it up sooner or later.

now compared to everywhere else i had been, this is really cheap and thats why i feel it may be abit sketchy!!

    here are the sub specs:

    12" Dual Voice Coil Subwoofer
    1500W Peak, 500W RMS
    Power operation between 200-500W RMS
Dual Voice Coil- Available in D4 (2 or 8 ohm operation) or D2 (1 or 4 ohm operation) [Select below]
    Kevlar reinforced pulp cone
    Santoprene rubber surround
Cast aluminium frame with perimeter venting
Transfer Plate, designed and Engineered in the USA
    Dual Progressive Oversized Nomex Spiders
    Dual Stacked Magnets
    Frequency response: 23-500 Hz
    Sensitivity: 85 dB
    Depth: 19.5cm

    Any advice ???

The Pioneer is 600Wrms at 2 ohm, the D4 sub is rated at 500Wrms at 2 ohm... The amp is perfect for it. You want a little more power as then you are less likely to cause the amp to "clip". Clipping is sorta like hitting redline in your car, if you run it like that for too long it's going to die. But in this case clipping can also damage the subwoofer. So more power is GOOD. I just sold 2 of those Pioneer amps for $137 and $212 so look around for a better price than $400.

Go with the Pioneer, good products with good prices. I personally stay away from Sony like the plague, but apparently they have gotten better from that few years of complete junk they went through.
