Look up the subwoofer information and see if they're recommended for sealed or ported boxes. Then build the recommended box.
You haven't given us a model number for your subs so no one can give you an accurate answer.
they are soundstream t5-12
So did you look up the specs? Their website has a recommended sealed and ported enclosure details.
That sub suits both ported and sealed, so you pick which you'd prefer. I'd build the sealed and see if you're happy, if not give the recommended ported a go.
yer the specs say you can use both type of boxs and i made a ported box allready but i want to know if i what type of box would give me better sound quality ported or sealed ???
Better quality is sealed, louder is ported. Bastardized but simple rule.

ok so now that i am going to change to a sealed box i will have to get my amps retuned ???
thanks for the help everyone
They are hardly an SQ sub anyway, so you may aswell go ported. After reading your first post, i can only assume you don't currently have your gains, or head unit settings adjusted correctly. You shouldn't have too much bass, you should be in control of how little, or much bass you want during your listening.
What is your budget for the enclosures? You didn't mention whether you are after a pre-fab enclosure, or whether you will DIY.
Allthough it may seem irrelevant, sometimes it can be helpful to list as much info as you can, such as what type of music you like, and also what the rest of your setup consist's of, and any future upgrades you may have in plan.
ok so i dont want to pay an arm and a leg for a box all up i have spent around the 4k mark so i dont plan to spend very much more i have been looking at this box made by soundstream its a ported box so the guy from the shop says so im going to look into it a lil more but i got no problem making my own box as i have made my own in the past the music i listen to is a lot of dance and rnb my future plans with it all is to get a dvd player if i can be bothered the gear i have is the following
pioneer cd player
fusion splits 100wrms
fusion 6'' speakers 110wrms
kenwood 4 ch
x2 soundstream t5-12
x2 fusion 3000w mono blocks
400 cell capcell ( soundstream )
ported box
id spend the money and get the sounstream ported box works wonders with these subs, heard both and the ported has alot more punch than the sealed equivilant
