Hey guys,
I am planing on building a new ported box for my Pioneer TS-W307D4 sub. Its currently in a ported box made by a mate however the box doesn't fit nicely in my car. I have taken a few measurements and found that the volume of the box is 64 liters.
I am planning on building a box of the same volume just changing the dimensions to make it fit nicer and using thicker MDF. I also plan on using the same port as what is currently in the box. However, by changing the dimensions is this going to effect the port tuning at all? Can the port be put anywhere on the box (as in on the back or sides as opposed to the front)?
Cheers
Changing the dimensions won't effect the tuning as long as the internal volume and port volume is the same.
The port should be put on the same side of the box as the speaker as the sound from each interacts, but it's ok to have it on another wall as long as it's not separated into a different area of the car. Like sub side sealed facing into cabin and ports firing rearward would not be good for the sound interaction between the port and sub.
Ok excellent, I will just keep the port on the same side as the speaker then. Looks like I should go get some MDF and get to work then.![]()
