hi guys,
currently doin a sub install in my base model vy ute.
im saving to do my stereo properly, but want to hook up the sub for now.
normally i would run the sub off of the rear speaker wires, but im not too sure if the standard deck actually has rear channels?
so does the deck in the ute have rear channel wires? (it doesnt have a fader in the audio settings, so im guessing no)
and
is tapping into the front speaker channels to power the sub going to draw to much power and effect the front speakers? i could then run the spare two channels on the amp back into the speakers with low gain, but dont know if the stock units will cope with that?
any help is much appreciated guys.
cheers
Regarding rear channels BREAKTHROUGH - Now able to enable rear channels in VY/VZ ute stereos....
If your amp has high level inputs, you can use the signal off the front speaker wires, but you will have very limited tuning capabilities. You said your saving to do it properly, are you planning on upgrading your head unit at a later date?
later on i will be doing splits and head unit, probably get a decent sub and amp too... im currently just using left overs from my last install. built a box, got a 700Wsub and 4x300w amp (with high level inputs.)
so if i pinch power off of the left and righ speakers (too keep it even) and put it into the high level inputs il be ok? never used the high levels before.
gonna read that link too. cheers.
hmm great link... but im in perth! plus, that seams like a lot of work when u could just get an aftermarket deck with rear channels? still answers part of my question.
ute deck = rear channels, but without power... bumma.
soooo, run it off the fronts? or should i get an aftermarket deck in?
mate if i can ask, where are you going to put your sub in the ute?
