Default Engine interference after amp install

    Hey,

I've just installed a response 4 x 100 amp into my vn. I had it running just two channels for the first day and it seemed perfect. Today I added another set of RCAs and ran the rear speakers. Went for a drive turned up and down and seemed fine. Just went out to my car to go up the street an there is a buzzing sound that follows the Revs of the engine. It's only hearable when sound down, and doesn't get louder as you turn it up. I've read around and it seems it could be a ground loom or something called alternator whine?

Any help would be great I really don't want this sound there.

    Also to make things easier:
the RCA and speakers wires are on the left,
    power on right.

On the four channel I'm using two diffrwnt brands of RCA.
    Ones DNA the other stringer.

Did you make sure than when you were putting the cables through any metal you used a grommet? Are all the earths sanded down to bare metal and clean?
    Cheers.

I had to drill a new hole as I have. MAnual, so no the power cable does not currently have a grommet. T
I have grounded off the middle seAt bolt.

I have realized that I pulled out and plugged in the rcas to check if the reAr speakers wer working. As well As this I also switched from hpf to full. Could this have caused the noise is it fixable?

    UPDATE:

went out in the freezing cold as i was worried i had destroyed my new amp.

Now i turned the ignition to point one, ie the point in which the stereo, attenta and amp power on, but the dash has not, three lcds on dash not lit up. Testing at this point showed no interference at all, amp working perfectly, I tested each individual Rca including the spare one which is being plugged into a mono next week and all worked perfectly, on both front and rear channels.

Next i turned the key that little but more and the dash lights fire up, and fuel pump makes a noise (i think its the fuel pump). At this stage the high pitched whine kicks in, at one constant note though.

Then you start the car and it follows the revs.

So my reasoning so far is that the amp and rcas are fine? correct? considering they work at the first point of the ignition means that i have not destroyed the amp, or my new rcas?

So what could be kicking in at the 2nd point in the ignition to cause the interfernce?

For now i think ill unplug the amp as the sound following the revs is so annoying!

    Thumbs up

Fixed the whine in my VZ
    (1) extra batery lead from alternator (+ive) to (+ive) battery terminal (+ a fuse)
    (2) extra battery lead from alternator body (-ive) to chasis (-ive)
Note: (1) + (2) very important for amp to suck power without going through original loom
    (3) 4g lead from battery +ive (+ a fuse) dirrect to amp power in
    (4) 4g lead from amp (-ive ground) bolted to bare metal on frame behind door
    All good now

Note: supercheap auto has pre-made lengths of battery leads c/w 8mm lugs

alright Rob i might have to have a go at all that.

The interference is no longert there. i drove my car three times today and when you start there is a high pitched noise but its realively quiet compared to yesterday, and now theres no sound following the revs!
so to be honest i have no idea whats going on!

When my motor's not running no whine at all.... Doesnt matter where the key is.

Remove the rca's while turned on, No music but whine go's etc......

    Sometimes whine, other's wont.

Its weird, once volume is over 6 ( fairly quiet ) it drowns its self out any ways.

Alpine, Old as the hills, 3+ years, Never skiped a beat, Had it amped in previus car no drama's, Unamped in this car fine, But amped it up and I have a wine, I think my rca's might be running to close to something. Ill move them one day, Its not from the power, removeing rca's while amp is on confirmes this for me.
