im willing to spend up to $1000 but dont really wanna go that high. I want something that will improve both the sound and volume
Someone might argue, but I'd say get a good set of splits and sound deaden the doors. You can amp the speakers down the track when you want to spend a bit more

I agree with Philthy, for decent mids and good volume, spent money on some front splits and sound deaden front doors.
boston s60 (~$250rrp)
diamond audio d3 (~$310rrp)
crescendo opus3 ($399rrp)
morel tempo6 ($315rrp)
pioneer ts-d1720c ($399rrp)
There's a few decent splits, depending on how much you want to spend.

What size amp would you recommend?? I have one from ages ago think its only 500w 4 channel.
Forgive me lord for i have sinned, I hit 4th gear jump5th gear pinned:b:
My suggestion (and this is just another option) would be to keep the stock speakers in place. IMO they are adequete for most daily listening needs. What's hindering the performance of your stock speakers, is head unit power output level, and the fact they they are running in full pass.
I would be looking to add a low powered 2 channel amp with an adjustable high pass filter, and then look at adding a single sub and mono block amp, to the existing system. This will releive your speakers of bass duties, allowing them to play louder, and cleaner, and offer greater tuning capabilities without having to swap your head unit over for an aftermarket one. The sub will then give that proper bass kick that the stock system is currently missing.
Could be done within your budget if you pick the right gear.
I'm not saying i dissagree with the above suggestions, but at the end of the day, you need to look at value for money. What's going to offer the most overall increase for the money spent.
I beleive it is better to have , and make equal improvements in all areas, bass, midrange, ect, rather than something that only offers' improvements in some certain areas..Unless ofcourse your buying one component at a time, because you have future plans for installing futher gear..
