Hi guys
I want to purchase a system for about $1500. I want it to consist of the following:
1 Sub mainly for good bass for rap music
A monoblock amp to power the sub
A good set of speakers maybe another set
Another amp to power the speakers
and a decent headunit
I would like to be able to ge most of this stuff from say Jb and supercheap so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
First if you buy any audio gear from SuperCheap Auto we will dishonorably discharge you from this forum..
Why exactly do you want to buy from JB or Supercheap, there are plenty of online retailers that offer superior equipment at cheaper prices. For example, Joe (a forum sponsor here) has just brought out a new range of speaker amps that are so friggin cheap that they should be on every first-stereo persons list. So let me and try and compile you a list for $1500, and I'm going to assume you will be doing the installing, otherwise it will be pretty damn pricey.
H/U: Meh whatever catches your fancy, as long as it has a least 2 sets out pre-outs, then they will all do basically the exact same thing.
Front speakers: Shopping Secure - Car Audio Specialists - Audio Development AD6
Sub + amp: Shopping Secure - Car Audio Specialists - VIBE CBR12 With Amplifier
Speakers amp: Shopping Secure - Car Audio Specialists - Ground Zero Iridium GZIA 2230HPX
Wiring kit: Shopping Secure - Car Audio Specialists - DNA AAK106 4 Guage 4 Channel Wiring Kit
Now without a H/U there is comes to $1454 but Joe has never failed at providing a deal to those that ask, so I'm sure you'll have enough for a good H/U.

Acarmody's is a little more SQ orientated, where mine would lead a little more towards bass and overall output. Consider this just another option if you wish.
H/u -2 pre-outs and sub control, anything beyond that is a useless gimmick IMO considering your budget. Allow $200 max. Speaker and sub selection is going to be where you notice the biggest gains at this price range.
For the sub i would be looking at something from the Mach 5 range. Mach 5 Audio IXL 12 subwoofer Subwoofer - Mach 5 Audio IXL-12 [IXL-12.2.2] - $249.00 : Subwoofers Car/Home Theatre, Affordable Drivers Mach 5 Audio IMO the Mach 5 IXL's are one of the best <$500 subs on the market today.
Allow $200 for build materials for the sub enclosure.
Sub amp- 1 ohm stable amp is what you'd be looking at.
Something like this - Ryda Car Audio - Kenwood Car Audio KAC-9104D Car Amplifier($348.85)
Speakers- A reasonable set of fronts - Ryda Car Audio - Soundstream XTC.6 Component Speakers($168.85)
Amp for front speakers - Shopping Secure - Car Audio Specialists - Ground Zero Iridium GZIA 4110HPX these GZ amp's produce very good power levels for the money.250 rms x 2 when bridged, will be more than adequete for the above speakers.
You'd have about $100 left over for wiring, so you would need to come up with another $100 or so to cover that.

Its true mine is more SQ orientated. I am biased though, I like SQ better than just volume, though not by a great deal. Personal preference really.
I completely forgot about those Mach 5 subs, good remind. Though I don't know about $200 for an enclosure, my local Bunnings can get 2400x1200x24 MDF for ~$80, unless your going to build a 3 cubic foot box or bigger than the one sheet should do it.

Allowed $200 for the enclsoure should he need to visit a joinery to have any specific work done, holes cut, routing ect should he not have the right tools at home for the job. But yeah should come to less than that.
Hmm, my local Bunnings only goes up to 18mm![]()

You have to go to the special order desk, they only have 18mm on the shelves.
And fair enough about getting a woodworking joint to help. My dad has all the stuff to make me some good boxes. He even made my sealed ones that I have now. Every panel is perfectly flat, couldn't breathe between two panels. And he only charged dinner for 2 at Sizzler, not bad for two 2 cubic foot boxes.
