i just installed an aftermarket head unit, amp and sub into my vy comm. it all works fine but when i turn key off the h/u stays on. there isnt a clear "acc" wire from the head unit. could it be something to do with the battery positive and battery const wires? i went through it a few times and still cant figure it out.
any help would be good
thanks
When you turn it off does it lose the stereo settings? If it does the ACC and Power wires are backwards. Done it myself once. Was wondering what the hell was up wit the stereo.
All stereos I have installed have had a permanent power and accessories power. The permanent power is mainly there to maintain your radio settings, time etc, but the accessory power is there to run the unit and turn it on and off with the key.
I suspect you have connected what is supposed to be accessory power from the head unit to permanent power in the car.
If for some reason your head unit only has the one power wire you'll have to choose between having it turn off with the key or keeping your settings.
Have you run a trigger wire from your head unit to your amp ? this is usually how the amp will turn on and off with the stereo.
I hope that is of some help.
Cheers

sleepa: no. keeps settings and stations when i turn it off and on again.
vh-sle: i know what you mean with the different power wires. well my h/u has 15 wires labelled; amp rem, ground, ant rem, att, illumination, power, power, and pos/neg for 4 speakers. i think i may have just got it but will confirm within 20
thanks
