Default two 12"subs or just one?

Long story short im in the process of getting my setup finalised and I dont know if i want tp use two older clarion 12" subs that my bro took outta his car bout 6 months ago which will cost me nothing, Or should i just look for a decent 12" sub in a box.

I love my music but im not into as loud as all hell kinda of setup, I was thinking going just one sub so that i can still open the flap in the back seat if i want to run something through from the boot. With the twin subs ive got the issue of not being able to move them myself due to a few physical limitations i get to live with now.

Its ill either run the twin setup untill im working again n have some $$ then go swap it out for a single, or just dig into the savings n get one 12" in a box.

    Any suggestions or input?
Also what would anybody suggest for a single sub in a box?

btw i will be running alpine type r 6.5" splits in the front n alpine type r 6x9s on the back shelf.

How old are the Type R 6x9's? Honestly, if they are fairly new, and in good order, i would invest in a suitable amplifier to get the most out of those.

Cheap subs, and especially cheap subs in poorly designed enclosures, do not mix well with larger sized vehicles such as Commodores. I say cheap sub, because from memory, i can't re-call anything from Clarion being sold in Australia in the last 5 years or so, that would warrant me wanting to use that, as aposed to decent full range speakers. You've got some reasonable gear allready, so IMO there is no point in adding anything of lesser quality than what's already installed.

Until you have sufficient funds to add a sub of similiar quality to that of the gear you are currently using, then my suggestion is to wait and save up. In the mean time, there could be some things you could do to bring improvements and make the most of the gear that's currently in place.

Other's may think otherwise, so stay tuned, and your sure to get a few more opinions.

I will have the front splits and the 6x9's running off a amp
The typr r's are from the 09 release the front splits are brand spankin new stock from this year.

I havent got these installed yet as hopefully next weekend (if phreddy threw my rca & aux kit in the mail on friday as he said he would) I will put everything in with the help of a mate of mine.

so u reckon i should just save up some $$ then grab myself a good sub ? Any suggestions?? I ask this as ive never installed a audio setup in a car before as i never owned a car before, used to only ever use 2 wheeled machines

Well i only suggest leaving the sub out for the time being, as you allready have some fairly decent "full range speakers".

Provided your amplifier is powerful enough to get the most performance, particulary out of the 6x9's, (as they are what's going to supply the majority of your bass response) then it should sound pretty nice as is.

Can't really go making any reccomendations for sub's until we have a budget to work with...

I reckon one 12inch sub would be plenty, But a good quality one.
