Default Pioneer Amp + 2ohm or 4ohm Sub?

    Hey people.

I have just bought a Pioneer GM-D8400M Mono Amp which says it has 300Wx1 4ohm continuous power or 600Wx1 2ohm continuous power.
I'm going to buy a Pioneer TS-W308D Sub to run of the amp but not sure if i get the 2ohm or 4 ohm as i dont know what the difference in ohms mean. I'm guessing i go 2ohm for more power but why?
    Any answers would be great.

The system will be all new Pioneer.
GM-D8400M Amp to run Sub $270
GM-6400F Amp to run Speakers $232
    TS-W308D Subwoofer $155
    TS-D1602R Speakers $147
    TS-D1720C Splits $206

    Does this sound good?
    Cheers heaps.

Get the TS-W308D4 and wire the voice coils in parallel is it's a 2 ohm sub.

    More power is better, simple.

    Cheers StoneX.

Just did a bit of looking on the net to see what all the 2ohm-4ohm, Parrallel-Series Wiring, Dual Voice Coil-Single Voice Coil all means cause i didnt know and learnt a bit!
Basicly the amp is saying to get the most power out of it (which is to draw 2ohms for 600W), the DVC sub needs to be wired right to draw the same 2ohm rating. So for the DVC 4ohm sub, the Voice coils need to be wired Parrallel to bring the ohms down to 2ohms.

I have now changed my mind about the choice of sub. I have a ute and am thinking of going a slimline and fit it behind the drivers seat.
So i'm gonna go a Pioneer TS-SW3001S 2ohm Sub because it's only Single Voice Coil. If it was a Dual Voice Coil sub i would get the 4ohm one and parrallel wire it back to 2ohms right?

Does that sound right? It's just i hate being told how to do it the right way but not know why to do it that way.

    Cheers!

Yep that's correct. This is why people are told to match the amp and the sub and not to just buy two random products, there is a way to do it.

It can get fun when you wire up multiple DVC subs. I, for example, have two mono amps that can be bridged to make a single 4-ohm load. So to do this I have two 4-ohm DVC subs, each in their own separate enclosures. Each sub is wired in parallel in the box and then the two boxes are wired in series. Always heaps fun when I have to get to the spare tyre and have to rewire up the boxes.
