Hi All
First post here , and i would love some input on a few questions .
I've just bought a VR in the last 2 weeks , and have started re-building a decent stereo system for it ,
Having been down the simple H/U and 6x9 route , and been left feeling pretty unhappy with the performance i have decided to do away with crappy 6x9's and start with the front stage .
I have a pair of Sony 6.5 component speakers , installed properly in the front doors , with the tweeter mounted to the inner mirror piece .
My question is this ,
In the future i will be doing a proper MDF/Plexi Glass install in the boot , and along with the amps , i would like to have all the misc componentry placed in amongst it all , IS there any performance issues with having the crossovers mounted in the boot ? and will there be any loss of power to the actual speakers themselves ?
One other quick question , how much of an impact does speaker wire actually make ? and are there options available (apart from jaycar etc) to buy decent cabling ?
Thanks in advance guys , this forum has been a godsend so far !!!
The crossovers can be mounted in the boot without any issues, it just means you have to run two sets of wire to the front (tweeter and woofer) rather than the standard one set to the crossover. Just make sure you use some decent SIZE wire. Use this to calculate how big your wire needs to be.
Jaycar speaker wire is perfectly fine as long as you buy the right size wire. You'll pretty much be paying for looks if you buy any other more expensive brand.
Ok , cheers for that .
