Some interesting wins, especially from Fusion in the SPL category.
Nice to see Blaupunkt picking up a win. I was actually chasing the Bremen MP78 for a while, but was unable to get what i thought, was a decent price.
Does anyone else think that some of the wins may have been a little bit biased towards Alpine? I know some of the high end gear are great products, but still, for the money, i think i would be looking elsewhere. Thoughts?

very suprised with the SPL winner..

It's a magazine, you can't trust the results as they get paid by the brands for advertising and get given free equipment. Also, a brand might only submit one model of head unit and no speakers or amps so you don't know what other products have been tested in each category.
Don't get me wrong, it's alright info but don't take it as gospel... Research the products in other places too![]()
That is exacly correct.
I thought I'd post it because it kind of gives an idea of what is out there and what is new etc.
You have to research the products, read reviews by customers not shops/magazines.
Althought I'm sure Joe would recon those Crescendo 8.6 would be good quality!
I don't think those Alpines should have won speaker under $1000. Especially cause they sell for $999 in store! I couldn't justify paying that amount for those speakers. I listened to a Demo on a soundboard on Saturday with the new Alpine X Splits, but they weren't fantastic.
Edit: Although, I don't know how Fusion got Winner SPL Sub..... I couldn't even see them buying their win. They only produce cheap crap! So that's a bit weird. I would of thought the DD would have easily beaten it.

But then again like Stone said , it's what get's entered. DD of course could have submitted a sub that would no doubt be capable of producing bigger numbers. If you can net similiar readings on a term lab for half the price then they deserve the win i guess...If there was ever an al outl db drag between fusion and DD then it's obvious who would win.
Most people assiciate Fusion with being of cheaper quality, rather than taking into account that it may be suitable for other things, such as SPL competitions, given a certain budget.

I do like Alpine decks, but I don't own/use Ipods (my bad thought the Alpine CDA-117E was one of those new ipod only decks). I'm happy with my 9887.
The Alpine Type X Splits aren't anything special imo, for $999 you could buy better. Alpine PDX amps are highly regarded because it's Digital and produces good clean power. But they are rather expensive imo. With the Fusion.... weird... couldn't even see Fusion buying their way in.

GO FUSION !!! oh , wait, what![]()
lol fusion is like US audio... speaks for itself really.
unless someone can correct me?
I just bought a Vibe Slick 12" woofer and a Vibe mono amp.. anyone heard what there like?

Vibe are good. Slick is their entry level gear i beleive. Competetive for the money, so as long as your not expecting ground shaking bass, then you should be happy.
I disagree that fusion is like US audio, Fusion make some quite decent gear (for the price) at the upper end of the range, US audio don't.
Why did you buy the Vibe if you have never heard of them?

He probably brought it from Joe? I buy stuff all the time I haven't heard. Just because it usually isn't available near me (Perth). I brought lots of things without hearing it.
Yamaha S215V Club Series Cabinets, JBL MRX518 Sub, Crown XTi2000, CrownXTi1000 (All from America) (Pro Audio Gear)
Hifonic 2412 Sub, Hifonic Brutus 2608 Amp (From America)
Alpine 9887 and Pioneer Deck (GF's) (From America)
2x MB Quart DSC480 Amp (GF's) (from America)
SoundStream SST-05's Tweeters, SoundStream TRC6N Splits, SoundStream TRX2.820 Amp (Australia)
I didn't demo any of that gear.

eh.. close enough. I am over ground shaking bass.
i used to have 2x12" comp kickers which were ground shaking as you can imagine but i am/was looking for nice clear bass hence why i got Vibe.
