What do you mean custom parcel shelf? If you cut or modify your current shelf then your car is illegal, and possibly dangerous.

Wow that would suck a little bit, to find out afterwards I mean. Did you have to get a new one welded in?

lol, yeah sucks a bit.. but na, i havent been busted yet (2-3years so far), been pulled over quite a few times but it has a window shade over the sub so ya can't see it.... was just saying that yes its illegal. but if i get busted will just have to cut the same section out of a wreck and weld it in. works alright thou, but i reckon the sub screwed and MDF screwed would be structurally sound as 2-3mm steel .

You can make a new parcel shelf top part (with the carpet). You just can't cut any steel out of the steel parcel shelf.

I found it's easier to find the rattle and put something between the 2 surfaces rattling against each other. My parcel shelf rattled really badly against the rear window so I jammed material between it.

On my VY it was the boot release cable that'd rattle hardcore,

Some foam carpet underlay stuff from carpet shops do the trick nicely, just put a peice under the whole pacel shelf/carpet thingo and some on top of the cable and anything else that will rattle
