Default Holden VZ SV6 - Need ideas for an audio setup.

    Hi everyone,

I recently joined Just Commodores as i'm going to be purchasing a VZ SV6 in a couple of weeks
and I want to put do an audio setup in it.

Now i'm an absolute blank when it comes to this, so i'm looking to cover all the aspects of doing this
and what is needed, involved, cost etc.

Ok, I listen to alot of Hip/Hop, RnB kind of music. You know, the music with alot of bass and beats. I'd like
it loud and attention grabbing. Something you can hear from outside of the car and gets peoples attention as I drive past.

So to do this what would I have to do?

    1. Subwoofer - I've heard people say that 10" and 12" are what alot of people are using. What are
the best brands to go after when looking at getting a sub? How much are the (approx) top notch subwoofers?

Also, I see people with 2 x 8" subs etc, what is the diff between 2 x 8" smaller subs than one 12" sub?

Better question, what do they exactly do? Produce the bass?

    2. Amp - What does this do? What are some good amps that people use, or what would be a good amp suited to my kind of music and what price are amps approx?

    3. What is a Head Unit? Do I need one when doing an install like the above? What does it actually do?
Any pro's or con's about Head Units I should know about?

    4. Speakers - Do I need to remove the stock speakers to get better sound? Can the stock speakers handle aftermarket installs? What size are the stock speakers and what would people reccommend upgrading to?

My budget is around $1,500 or so.

As you can see i'm not familiar with this stuff at all, so all the answers and help/suggestions are appreciated.

Honestly, your far better off going into your local car audio store and telling them what you want and how much youve got to spend.
