ok i wanted to know if im able to mount front speakers in the doors of my vh do i have to get some bottem end door moulds lyk the vs ones and put them in?? i no in my uncles vb the front speakers are donw in the kick panels i also want to know how to make a parsal shelf i dont have one in mine thats how i got it if some one could help me out much apreciated
get some fibreglass ones made up.... so they sit on top of your trims, depending on the shape of your doors, you should be able to get something that suits, ive never worked on a vh before (only a ute) so i dont know the rear end setup.
some pics might help with brainstorming.
The front doors of the VB-VLs are fairly shallow, my first car was a VB and i had Pioneer "bullet" splits in the front doors. I just used a set of 25mm MDF spacers and that accommodated the mids fine.
It all depends on what you want......if you just want to put 6-6.5" speakers in the front and not too worried about looks, then a set of these will do:
AP3061C : 1 Pair 6" (152mm) Grey Carpet MDF Speaker Spacers :: Speakers And Spacers
But if youre after a better look, then maybe get yourself a set of these and just buy some matching (jnterior) vinyl paint and repaint them:
APF60GR : 1 Pair 6" (152mm) Grey Vinyl Fibreglass Speaker Spacers :: Speakers And Spacers
Or you could go with a set of VR/S factory pods / pockets and paint them the same colour as the the interior.....a little bit more difficult to install though.
To make a parcel shelf you'll need to either find a standard one or make up a template from cardboard etc, use either one of those as a template and use 12-16mm MDF as the parcel shelf. You can also mount 6" speakers into this shelf without cutting any metal (illegal).
Anyway, if youve got any more questions dont hesitate.......i started out working on these![]()
