Are your RCAs running down the same side as your power cable? This sounds like alternator/engine whine to me.

How about you tell us what components your stereo is made up of... If you have a Pioneer head unit, I know what it is. If you don't, you need to check your amp ground, make sure RCAs are not near power cables, try other RCAs.
the rca's are running down the centre and dropping down to the amp under the passener seat, opposite to power cablem head unit is alpine, 4 channel amp is pioneer sub is bolt as well as amp powering the sub, how do i fix the engine whine cause that does souybd like what it is
OK well first check you amp ground, make sure its sanded right back to bare metal and then re-tighten that sucker. Make sure that even at the amp that the RCAs and power cable are as far away from each other as possible. If it is still there then try a different set of RCA cables and see if it is still there.

the earth is attached via the bolts attaching the passenger seat, the amp is under neath, so the earth cable l;iterally runs underneath the rca's, i will move it tommmorow see how it go's, thanks for the help
