I am looking to buy new speakers for my VR.
I am unsure of whether to go 6" or 6.5".
Will 6.5" fit into the front and back speaker holes without modifications?
Also i don't want to spend too much, what brands and models do you recommend that will not cost heaps?
I want fairly decent and loud sound quality as it has to keep the treble up to my 15" sub:).

6.5" will fit. you will need to do a bit of cutting for the front door pods, but nothing to mojor. you should go for splits rather than coaxials. if you name a budget i can suggest some good speakers in that range. if you are on a tight budget go for the jaycar kevlar splits. they are $150 but compare to pioneers range costing over $300. the jaycars would be better than buying more expencive coaxials. unless you are willing to spend upto $450 then the jaycars are the go

So the jaycars will sound as good and go as loud as the pioneers?
The 6.5" will fit straight into the back holes?

Some 6.5's will fit in, some won't.

They're not all the same size.

been looking on ebay. Are kicker speakers any good? because they are really cheap.
Also what do the cheaper pioneer speakers sound like? I'm not sure whether to get splits or just some 3-5way speakers.

Go with the Jaycar over the Kicker splits anyday and don't bother with an speaker over 3way.

also, how do i mount the tweeters?
are the splits you are talking about called 6.5" Precision Response Kevlar splits?
If i got 6x9s and mounted them in the back by cutting the carpeted shelf(not the metal) so the magnet of the speaker drops through the old 6" holes, will it fit? If so ill get 6x9s because they will look better. What are some good 6x9s to get also?

ok ive decided to go with splits throughout the car (front and rear) but unsure as to how to mount the tweeters at the front and where to mount them in the back? i was thinking of mounting the rear ones in the top corners of the small side windows. But this will mean they will be directly facing my passengers ears....will this be alright? and then all the jaycar splits will drop straight into the holes in the front and rear? correct?
