Hey,
Comparing the Hertz EP4x & Hertz EP2x to power some Front mids in a Active System.
Regardless of which speakers these will be running. The EP4 provides 3dB+ Headroom and the EP2 provides 1.5dB+ headroom. Theres only $40 difference (who cares).
EP4x - 4Channel
RMS - 320 x 2 @ 4ohm bridged
S/N - 98dB
THD - 0.08% @ 1kHz @ 4ohm
EP2x - 2Channel
RMS - 220 x 2 @ 4ohm
S/N - 100dB
THD - 0.05% @ 1kHz @ 4ohm
The Damping Factor is identical. Although after reading, when bridging a 4channel amp, the impendance the amp see's reduces therefore halving damping factor correct?
Which option in your opinion would be better?
My thoughts are, the EP2x has higher S/N, and lower THD (these differences aren't even audible), plus the Damping Factor stays at 130 while the EP4x drops to 65 (correct?). The EP2x still has 1.5dB headroom which is plenty (correct?).
