    Pros:
    -Can look good
-Easier to design a sub box because you don't have to factor in the area that the sub takes up.

    Cons:
-If you already have the box, reversing the sub will effectively make the box bigger. Could impact sound quality, especially on ported boxes.
    -Wiring may look messy

Any subs can do it, and the alpines are pretty good looking from the back.
As TMM said, if you have built the sub box to account for the basket volume you will throw the volume slightly out of whack slightly. Might not be noticable to most people though.

All you have to do is reverse the polarity (+ to - and - to +) so it stays in phase. Some amps or headunits will give you the option to reverse the sub phase without changing wiring though

Have you been drinking by any chance? Just a guess

Keep in mind that you will probably actually LOSE boot space by inverting the subs, since alpines baskets are so big

    excellent first two points,

re bolded text: not necessarily - acoustic phase is relative to your overall system. changing polarity is necessary when you have two drivers mounted differently (i.e. one inverted, one normal and the two must be out of phase electrically to be acoustically in phase)

    cheers,

so if you invert ya sub you need to change the wiring for it to work the same as it wasnt inverted....correct?

No, wiring is exactly the same. All the wiring configuration does is determine the impedance, this must stay the same.

You can try changing the phase if you like, any decent mono-amp will have a phase control on it. Try both and see which one you like most.
