Hey all.
hopefully picking up my vs ute this week for my first car!
I was planning on updating the stereo, nothing major. I was going to make the custom sub box that goes next to the fuel tank but there is a big LPG tank in the tray which is on top of the hatch so i wont be able to.
Whats my best option to get some bass and good sound out of this?
cheers guys!

Got room for a couple of boxed 6x9's? A good set will give you more than enough bass for a ute

I read somewhere putting the 6x9's like mounted behind you is horrible for the ears haha!
Or can you chuck them somewhere else which still sounds good.
its hard to say as i haven;t got the ute yet!
DO you know anything about the slim subs?
Nothing wrong with slimline subs. What do you particularly want to know about them?
As for 6x9s if you run them on a LPF then they will be quite alright for bass.

Ideally you would want a decent amount of space between the sub and say a seat but a few inches will be enough. Go to a car audio shop and see if they have any utes around.
You could spend some serious cash and get some custom 8" door pods, but this will be quite pricey.
Honestly there are plenty of people running slimline subs and loving it.

You could get some high quality splits in the doors that would do the job if you aren't after massive bass. You would be looking at $600-1000, then an amp to run them off, and sound deadening for the doors

Wow 600+ just for the door speakers! bit more than i was wanting to spend on just speakers.
I think i'l end up going some alright 6" (not sure what kind i.e splits, 4 ways. makes no sense to me) in the doors, and a slimline sub running off a 4ch amp. I dont know too much but i think that works?![]()
That was a rough guess at speakers that you would be happy with not to run a sub. It would still be a cheaper option than buying splits + sub + box + amp/s.
As far as "alright" speakers, don't bother with coaxials. Always look at getting splits in the front if you want a half decent system
EDIT: Oh, and with boxes like these http://shoppingsecure.com.au/index.p...&productId=107 most subs should fit fine. No need to stick with slimline. Just check the mounting depth on the sub is a bit less than 222mm
