i cant wait til my setup is complete, im hopeing to get at least 135-140, i wonder if getting a better h/u with higher voltage rca pre-outs will help better than this cheap china crap

i dont really care what db i get, its loud enough for me (also sounds good enough) and thats all what matters

If you have your gains set correctly on the amp, and the amps inputs are sensitive enough for the voltage from the headunit, then it makes no difference, just means you'll have to turn your gains down to prevent distortion.

Very true, though Nic runs a no-name chinese headunit, so I'm guessing the pre out voltage would be lucky to go far past 2v. Gains are very important, often beginners for SPL seem to think more gain= bigger numbers. This is not the case, sending your subwoofers a clipped signal will result in crappy numbers.

I suppose, you also have to take into account the level of volume that's being used, if his pre outs are rated at 2V they most likely would never reach this in everyday usage. But is that 2-3V difference (compared to the quite common 5V pre outs on big brand HUs) really going to make a noticeable difference, assuming his amp is capable of picking up the smaller voltage effectively and amplifying it without clipping?
