What size amp is recommended to run a 12" kicker with a peak power around 250 watts? Im not after the loudest possible sub, i just want to get a bit of bass. Not really experienced in sound systems either, so any advice is appreciated
It will only need a really small amp, the sub is probably only 125wrms. Maybe something like this,

Ryda Car Audio - Kenwood KAC-M615D Mono Amplifier($183.85)

Flip it over and write down the model number that appears on the magnet.
Ideally you wouldn't want to spend too much, if we know it's coil configuration we might be able to point out a few cheapies on Ebay or something. Your in a major city so it shouldn't be too hard to find something used nearby...
Do you have a wiring kit and enclosure for it allready?
I don't have the sub just yet, i was just curious as there are a few small amp's on ebay near Brisbane and it would be alot cheaper.
Any idea if this amps will have enough guts? Or is more info required?

We still need the model number of the sub. The impedanec of the sub has to match the impedance levels of the amplifier.
Also that amp you listed is a 2 channel amp. Ideally you would a mono block amp. 2 channel amps can still be used in low power applications by bridging the 2 channels to provide one channel of more power, but again this is where the impedance levels come into it.
The sub you have in mind, is it something you have bought allready, or just seen in a store, ect?
i havn't bought anything just yet, im still looking. Im really after something small, possibly just a 10" sub. Just not sure how to know what amp works with what subs
