Default Amplifier Not powering ON :(,

me and my mate wired up an amp for his sub in his car, with 50A cabling. connected it to the battery and nothing. Do we have to connect a wire from the remote connection on the amp to the head unit for it to turn on? I don't know a whole heap about amps but i assumed once a 12V supply was connected it should turn on?

Help appreciated, especially since we're doing the same to mine.

    Thanks guys,

yes the remote connection on the amp goes to the headunit so when you turn the headunit on the amp will turn on this stops the amp from draining the battery when the car is off.

yeah its only a low amp 12v signal that goes thru that cable. i think even a single length of speaker wire would do the job. They usually come bundled with amp wiring kits, or as an attachment on the rca cables

cheers guys, might just grab some standard 25a cabling so its nice and solid. And na my amp didn't come with any wiring cause i bought it second hand, $30 for a 600w. not bad i say haha.

25amp cable for that is massively overkill. The signal cable uses a maximum of 500ma to turn on the amp. The type and quality of cabling here makes absolutely no bearing on the quality or volume of sound.
