Hey guys,
In my search for a VE SSV headunit for my 07 SV6, I have come across one that JHP is selling. Now I know that if I was to purchase an SSV headunit from Holden spares directly, I would have to get it programmed to work with my HVAC controls by a company such as No Limits.
Therefore what I am interested to know is, how can JHP provide a standard SSV head unit sourced from Holden that already works in any VE? Wouldn't they have to have your HVAC controls and program them to work together?
Apparently they provide a matching HVAC control module which is programmed to operate in any VE SS, SV6 or Omega*.
Therefore how would one go about installing the HVAC unit as well?

Cheers.
Just for anyone that's interested. I ended up getting the VE SSV kit from JHP. It turns out that the way in which the head unit works in any VE is that they provide a New HVAC unit which must replace your old one sitting behind the glove box. This new unit has been programmed to work with the head unit purchased and therefore the install isn't too much harder than a straight plug and play sway, with the only difference being that you need to take your glove box out to fit the HVAC module.
Nice!
What did it set you back, out of interest?
An arm and a leg, haha.
Nah seriously, it's was $2100 all up, which is pretty decent value when compared to the $1600 minimum sourcing the unit from Holden Spare Parts with another $650 on top of that to get the head unit programmed to work with your exisitng HVAC module as well as the VIM mod. So all in all, I saved myself $150 overall as well as the time it would have taken to get the programming done.
With this setup youve only got hot/cold aircond not climate control is that correct?????? All posts i've read seem to say that.
Put a few pics up!!!!!!
Yep you are correct. Climate control requires separate ducting for each of the zones I believe. Whilst it is possible to get an SV6 or SS to have dual zone climate control, it requires huge modifications to the original ducting which would be worth no where near the effort required and most likely a very costly exercise.
Then again, do you really need dual zone climate control?
Will certainly put up pics and a full how to guide on replacing the unit. You'll just have to give me a couple weeks to get Uni exams outta the way and then the car will be having all sorts of mods fitted to.
My mate just got one of these JHP SS-V radio head units in his Omega and it works fantastic.... it actually looks like a calias in the centre stack because they changed the Omega green LCD section out for the calais vents & radio section. He even went for the iPod and VIM upgrade so he can play movies from his iPhone... Great upgrade with the 6 stack CD changer and colour screen.
