You didnt mention if you wanted ported or sealed. Those corner jobs off ebay are all sealed from memory. You'll also need to run the TS specs to make sure the enlcosure suits.

Otherwise, i don't beleive it's worth while in paying anyone to do anything custom for a single Type R 12. The work would cost more than the sub is worth, and in a vehicle the size of a Commodore, you might find yourself dissapointed with it's output anyway. You may decide to either upgrade, or add a second sub, and in which case, keep it simple, keep it practical. Getting the most out of the sub/s should always be first priority over how they look, face, ect ect.

The corner setups are good for SQ applications and where the subs are best suited to small sealed enlclosures.

ported or sealed doesnt matter much, sealed probby be the go due to being smaller. i would also like to use the boot for other things as well,

if it was to go with the corner i keep one sub as you cant fit a type r in for the left side....

i might try going down to autobarn or some place like that and having a look what boxs they have. think it was a sealed box but think ur right with just keeping it practical for now anyways
    cheers

If your after sealed, then just about any cheap pre-fab enclsure will do, just make sure it's internal volume is adequete. One thing i would do though, is apply a few coats of fiberglass resin to the inside of the enclosure. Most pre-fabs are usually 12-16mm, and ideally you want a bit more strength than this. I'd also add some pollyfill, or similiar.

Remember to check your mounting depth also, they are quite deep, so not all enclosures might be suitable.

I ran a Type R 12 for a little while, and i experimented with a few different enclosures. I found that sealed, 1.8-2.0 cu ft worked the best. Alpine reccomend a fair bit smaller than that, but that's just a rough guideline as to basically the minuimum volume you can use. The smaller enclosure did produce slightly tighter bass, but sacrificed output and low fq extension. But again, given the vehicle size, the audible differences were so small, that the enclosure that offered the most output generally sounded the best, as there was less effort required by the sub.

Going pre-fab about $100 should see you with an enclosure, and enough dacron (you may want to experiment with different amounts.)
