Hey guys few questions
Ive done some searching havent been able to find a how to, Basically i wanna use the aftermarket grill covers for the speakers i put in, how do i go about doing that in the front and parcel shelf of vs commodore so it looks flush but instead of the stock grille covering the aftermarket one is on.
Secondly i had the idea of adding another set of speakers into the car in the rear doors any advise anyone has on how to go about this the best way
Thanks in advance
I would advise against adding a 3rd set of speakers, especially in the rear doors. Not only is it likely to draw your soundstage to the back, it will not be any louder. Also unless you were to use a 6 channel amp, then you would only be limiting the performance of all 6 speakers, rather than getting the most out of the 4 currently in place. But if it's a must for you, then i would just get a second set of fornt map pockets, cut them down, and use them in the same way as the front. Fair bit of work though, and every chance you could stuff it up.
The grills on the parcel should be fairly straight forward. What type of speakers were they, and did you use the factory mounting position. If they are instaled in the factory hole, then all that needs to be done is to remove the factory metal grill (done from underneath the shelf) and then simply screw you aftermarket grill in it's place. There may be metal underneath the shelf depending on the size, and shape of the speaker, so you may have to use shorter screws.
As for the front, that's going to be tricky. You would first need to cut your new grill to the exact shape of the factory one, and then find a method of attaching it from the inside of the map pocket.
I don't understand why you would want to do any of the above though. Forward firing soundstage is what sounds the best, and most realistic. It is how the music was recorded, and intended to be played back. One of the better things about the VS model as aposed to eariler models, is having a stock loaction to mount aftermarket speakers, i wouldnt go to the trouble myself of making it look out of place...
