Hey guys just got a quote for this on from a wholeseller on ebay, its for a complete sound system for my 2001 vx commodore..
"Hey mate, for $2400 I can supply you with:
1X Pioneer AVH-P4250DVD DVD Head unit RRP:$1049
1X Kicker S12L7 Subwoofer RRP:$599
1X Kicker ZX750.1 Amplifier RRP:$759
2X Alpine SPX17REF Component Speakers RRP:$1198
Heres the link to the head unit: 2-DIN Audio/Visual unit with a 7" Touchscreen - AVH-P4250DVD :: Pioneer Australia
That system will be crazy, its a few hundred more but youll have a dvd player in your car and very high sound quality with these component speakers connected to it.
Plus bass will be very loud with this subwoofer and amp combo.
If thats too much above your budget, I can change the speakers to something cheaper.
Or let me know any other combinations and ill give you prices on them aswell."
Although I have now gotten it down to $2350 with a sub box but no installation.
Your thoughts? Worth the money or not?
Thanks
First of all, i'll assume the 2 sets of Alpine splits are for the front and rear doors (as opposed to both sets in the front doors - custom built)? Theres a few problems i can see straight away:
* No speaker amp? So he proposes you run these RRP $599 speakers from the 20wrms or so that the head-unit produces???
* Even if he included a speaker amp, you probably wont need 2 sets of those Alpine splits......so save some $$$ and put a set of 6" co-axials for around $100 in the rear doors.
* In my opinion, matching up a nice set of SQ-orientated splits with a Kicker L7 isnt ideal. Maybe look towards the Alpine Type X as the seller stocks Alpine.
If you were to buy that system and get it fitted at your local car audio shop it wouldnt sound crap.......but for the same amount of dollars you could have a system that will sound miles better and more importantly hasnt got $$$ wasted on top quality speakers that arent needed in the rear doors.
Anyways, my suggestions (if i have confused you haha) is to take one set of Alpine splits off and add a speaker amp, something with 80-120wrms per channel. Buy a cheapish set of 6" co-axials for the rear doors. This will probably end up costing around the same price, but you also need to include the cost of wiring......$150-$200 depending on the kit/s etc.
Hope this helps a little![]()
