Head unit debate

sup all,
just asking for some opinion on which head unit/car player i should get. first question which is better jvc or pioneer?
so far my options are

its between:
JVC KD-R416
or
Pioneer DEH-2250UBG

my budget is below $230

i'd always go pioneer over jvc and for 230 you can get a pretty decent deck that pioneer one you mentioned is good if you're not plannin on ampin your speakers and adding a sub

The main differences with these 2 units is the JVC has a 5volt line output with it having sub control. The pioneer has one 2volt line output with no sub control. The Pioneer unit is 4 x 22 watts rms and the JVC is 4 x 20 watts rms. The pioneer through an interface module can control an ipod/iphone through the unit as well as having sound retrieval technology that in my opinion is impossible to compare if it actually makes a difference other than enhance higher frequencies by making them louder. Pioneer states its Sound Retrieval Technology restores data by enhancing the higher frequencies that tend to get lost in digital compression. It doesn't actually restore lost data that does get lost in the compression process. It simply increases the amplitude of the higher frequency range which technically is restoring data but not lost data. Its a cheap technology that is aimed at making you believe it restores lost data. You cannot restore data that is not there.

A 5volt line out with sub control is only really a benefit by it having sub control. 5volt line out does not make any difference than a 2volt line out.

Pioneers tuner is superior to jvc which is only going to make a significant difference if you listen to am a lot around the city and driving next to train lines.

So if your old an like am reception go pioneer. If your young and want sub control go the JVC. The interface for ipod for the pioneer will benifit a girl more because they tend to not have subs as much as blokes.
