Steering wheel volume control

The volume controls on the steering wheel of my VY SS Crewman are playing up. The 'down' button is increasing the volume as is the 'Up' button. Any suggestions?

Take apart the volume module if you can on the steering wheel.
Check for a short or loose cable that may be running the electrical signal down the wrong wire.

This is the most common fault with VY's. You can pull them apart and get them re-soldered or something, but I just got hold of some "new" second hand ones and touch wood, they've been fine. You'll need to follow the How-to for removal of VY/VZ steering wheel to the letter, so you don't get an air bag code. You'll just have to go as far as removal of airbag and a set of new buttons will screw back into place, route the wiring correctly and plug them in. They are probably dear from Holden, but of you're lucky like me, good second hand ones may be out there. Or you could go the soldering method but I know jack all on that one.
