Hey, looking at putting a sound system in my VT. It'll all be an upgrade from stock. I've searched threads here, but they're mostly for small budget systems. What I'm looking for is an audiophile/competition system. I mainly listen to metal, so this system will be based around making those double kicks clear and hard.
Have no real set budget, as I'll be buying it in stages. So far I have got a Pioneer AVH-P5250 head unit. Next I was thinking of an amp and my first sub. I'm planning on going 2 10" subs for sub bass and 1 12" sub for mid bass. These will be in a custom box (see image below) in the boot. Then in the doors some 6" splits, then find a good place for some tweeters. All run on on 2 amps.
Would this kind of setup work? Also, what are my chances of making this kind of box for the subs?
And if so, what kind if dimensions will I need? Or will I need my subs to work that out? The amps are in little drawers that can be pulled out, so they're basically inside either the 10" it the 12" boxes.
The yellow line is to have spare wheel access so I don't have to pull the bastard out when I get a flat.
And check my pro Photoshop skills.
I hope you don't have your heart set on having 2x10" and a 12" sub, as that'll kill your SQ right out of the gate.
What you are after is a 10" sub or 2 (there are a couple 12"s out there that would probably do the job as well), then some top quality front splits with the HPF set down around the 80Hz mark.
PM me with a rough budget and I'll make you a couple offers from our Shopping Secure range
The boxes wouldn't be too hard to make. You will probably be best off making the basic boxes (you will get the specs with the subs) then bolting on the fancy shaped front panels to make it all fit neatly
If you like that boot layout you could display the amps where the 12" sub is. That'll help keep them cooler as well

personally i would go either dual 12's or dual 10's....
you dont need that many subs to produce good bass....
ive been running a big 12" and its running mint for all types of music.
now ive taken everything out of my car (camber problems)
so now im running 10" speakers in the doors and horns under the dash, no subs in the boot...
sound great.. no.. amazing on rock/metal/techno, only downside is i dont think i have enough bass...
will be going with vibe QB69 off philthy soon.. just waiting for when i finish exams and have time..
I was hoping for that setup, but I knew it probably wasn't going to work.
What are some good 12" brands that can still be played loud, crisp and clear at 180+ bpm?
I was thinking about spending 1k on both amps, 1k on splits and 2k is subs. Then a few extra bucks for an equaliser, sound deadening and the like.
if you want crystal clear sound you could put an bitone in the car
