I have a Pioneer DEH-3250UB headunit, I used the GM to aftermarket plugs to install the headunit. I had to run the constant from the amps power cord, as the stock one seems to have failed after I removed my nokia car kit.
But now every time I turn off the car it wont save any radio station I previously tuned, not too big of a deal, and reverts to factory settings for bass and treble which is a concern as I don't want me speakers to make bass. I have a sub for that.
What would be causing it to happen? And if I run another power cable off my amps power (4g wiring to amp directly from battery, obviously has a fuse in between). To the acc input on the headunit will that help?
Just tried that, worked well. Last time I listen to a installer 'just connect the same coloured wires it will work fine'/
Thanks.
Well perhaps I need to listen to more skilled ones. I didnt listen to his earthing advice, since he said just using the old radio one would suffice.
Yeah but I run 4g wiring to the amp, and 4g for ground, connecting that to 22g wiring, that has shared earths seems like a good way to cause problems.
So are you wiring your amps to the stock wiring behind the headunit?
The aftermarket wiring plug is fine in terms to use for the headunit. As Kal Spl said earlier is correct, you just swap the (Red) Positive wire with the (Yellow) Constant. So in simple terms connect one red (HU) to one yellow stock wire and one yellow (HU) to one red stock wire.
If your having bad earths just cut black wire from (HU) wiring and affix it to the chassis of dashboard.
You can run another amp off the 4G your running, just get yourself a distro block (1 in 2 out) but what sort of amps are you running?
