Default New Front/Rear speakers - VE 2007 SS

    Hey guys.

Got an 07' SS with the stock head unit (no large colour screen) and am looking at getting new front and rear speakers, something with a bit of punch as I won't be getting a subwoofer, however, I would like them to be "Crisp clear" (I'm not audiophile, however, the stock speakers are shit!), any recommendations? Looking at spending around $500, links from US shops are fine if they ship to AUS.

Also, will they run off the stock head unit? Or am I able to install a head unit below the stock headunit and run the speakers of that? (Anyone looking for a cash job?)

    you have a few options..

the VE's are very similar to the BA/BF falcons (not the way they are wired but layout) as you can put a aftermarket headunit under
everything.. not the best looking system but it works.

have a look through www.shoppingsecure.com.au (forum sponsor) and see what you like..

if you do not want to go with the ugly aftermarket headunit option, look into gettnig a LOC (converts your speaker singnal into a RCA signal) and run a 4 chan amp to run your speakers.

So, basically, if I want to keep the STOCK head unit, I will need 4 new 6" speakers and an amp to power them? Does anyone know of any guides and if it's hard to wires the 4 channel amp to the stock head unit?

no you dont need to run an amp...

amp will help but you should be able to get away with running just better speakers off the factory headunit.

so say you get a new set of decent speakers.. get them installed and you think its lacking power...
this is when you would need to add in an amp..

adding an amp into the VE is not fun..
pull out the stock headunit, find the speaker wires, cut them, headunit side to LOC, car side to output of the amp.

for a decent LOC your looking at 150-200 (depending where you shop and who you know) [obviously you can get better]

mount amp in the boot.. prob on back seat or whereever you can get it, try keeping in boot because the battery is
in the boot, will save you some money with the wiring kit
