    Unhappy Accesories wire no power

    G'day,

I just bought a new stereo for my car (VR commodore) because the last one "broke". When I went to install the new one, it has no power so I went to buy a test light and it appears that my "Accessories" wire has no power whats so ever.

    Could anybody help me please?

Have you checked the fuse for the cable? It might have blown when the last H/U 'broke'.

I checked all the fuses already.. Well the "Door locks/Radio" and the "Radio" ones. There was one blown one but I replaced it already. Or are these not the fuses you mean?

Only thing I can suggest is to trace the wire back and see where the fault is. Or just pull the accessory power from the ciggy lighter.

Which wire would I be running this make shift accessories wire from? Also: Why would my H/U not turn on if it still has constant power but no 'accessories'? Got me a little stumped.

Because accessories is what tells it too turn on, otherwise it would always be turned on, even when the car is off.

Use your test light to find out which wire on the lighter gets power when the key is on accessories, and use that.

This might be a stupid question but you did have the key to ACC when using the test light, yeah?
