    Default building a subinstall

hey guys it me again still needing help to construc the wooden box part of my build i already have s dual 12" box wich is really solid but i dnt want jsut an ugly box jsut sitting in my boot

i would like to have a face that fills in the edges around the box. I had a try myself the other day but didnt turn out to good and looks very dodgy as there a small gaps and the curves are quite right, i just sorta guess were i would need to cut and drew the shape on the mdf and cut it to shape.

it came out ok but i believe it can be alot better

jsut wondering if there is a way to more accruly follow the contours of the boot for this

ill find a pik to show you want i want

putting a "beauty board" around the subs, sealing them off from the cabin, just makes it quieter.

Use cardboard to make up a template, then trace it onto your mdf

not a little bit, a lot!

I've seen commodore sedan installs, running two 10's or 12's, with a beauty board, that struggle to even register on the termlab spl meter.

hey ammo stop beng so negative my mate has the same thing adn his still sounds decent it not like im going to be entering db drags and a 10mm sheet of mdf wont affect it much in comparison to the odd 150mm thick foam seats wich will act as 10x more sound assorbign than mdf

Exactly. Have a look through AmmoJammo's posts and you will see they are all the same.
Heaps of people use the dress boards. It'll sound fine

yes, it'll sound find, give you as much bass as you realistically need, but by sealing it off, it would be comparable to running just one sub mounted such that its not sealed off from the cabin.

just put really thick carpet over the beauty board to fill in the gaps
