hey all.
looking to install a sub in the gap next to my fuel tank under my tray in my 07 VZ ute.
my main question is, what size amp should i get to power this sub? or what size sub\amp would you recommend for a ute install.
want to keep it all pioneer/JVC if possible.
sub in question is: PIONEER TS-W308D4 12" SUBWOOFER 1400W MAX 4OHM CAR SUB (eBay item 170549345747 end time 05-Dec-10 15:23:58 AEDST) : Cars, Bikes, Boats
is that sub too overkill for a ute lol?
got a new JVC head unit, keeping stock tweeters and door speakers.
just want a sub under the tray to kick me in the back :P
advice and or thoughts appreciated.
Cheers
Timmo
If you really want to stay with Pioneer gear (don't know why though) try this, Ryda Car Audio - Pioneer Car Audio GM-D7500M Car Amplifier($269.85)

you think that will be enough power?
800watts max- to power a 1400 watt sub?
i dont know a whole lot about this stuff.
but if that amp is enough to power the 1400 watt sub.
is there reason behind it, would be good if i understood why hehe.
thanks

Never look at the max/peak power rating of any piece of audio equipment. Always look at the RMS/continuous power rating, as this is its true power handling ability. The sub is rated to 400wrms and so is the amp.
While this amp would work fine, it would be more recommended to have an amp that is more powerful than the sub, as this way the amp isn't having to work 100% all of the time (assuming you are driving around with the sound always cranked). But as long as the amp is tuned properly then the Pioneer amp will be fine, I have never had a problem with Pioneers range of equipment.
