Hi guys, I searched this topic and found some answers about how a gas tank goes with a sub but couldn't find any where there has been some reasonable power going through a sub next to a gas tank not sure I'f it will be any different but here it goes.
I just bought a wl statesman with dual fuel and going to put my 12" sub in the boot with a digital designs m3 amp so it will be putting about 2600rms through the sub. I am hoping to swap the tank over and get it put in the spare wheel well of my car to free up some space but for now will I have any problems having that much power next to a gas tank? Any help would be great!

Crikey what model sub is it that it needs 2.6kwrms
It's a Critical Mass UL12 3000rms and 5000watts max!

I don't know about a sub that takes 2500wrms but only weighs 7.5kgs and has a recommended enclosure of sealed 1.2cu.ft .
LOL love how they equate having this sub to having a faster car. Because, you know, thats why I spend big money on a sub, to have a faster car.ULTRA-PERFORMANCE LIGHTWEIGHT SUBWOOFER DESIGN:
This driver is the first Ultra-Performance Subwoofer to be made with the automotive
performance enthusiast in mind. At only 18 lbs, this subwoofer handles up-to 3
times more power, has a considerably higher linear and maximum excursion, and
audibly lower distortion, while weighing as much as 66% less than other Ultra-Performance
Subwoofer (woofers with an excursion capability of greater than 2.5”).
These subwoofers made by other companies can weigh as much as 55 lbs. On the
other hand, the Critical MASS Ultra-Performance Lightweight Subwoofer will not
only play louder and handle more power, but it will also play in a smaller box, and
therefore, can save you as much as 100 lbs from subwoofer system weight when
combined with the reduced weight of a smaller enclosure (based on two 12” subs).
A 100 lbs reduction in your system weight, translates to accelerations gains resulting
in up to 1/10th of a second off your 0-60 mph times, or as much as 1 car length
faster. So the next time you plan to invest $1000 on an exhaust system, keep in mind
that you may have already lost your expected performance gains, unless you are using
Critical MASS UL-Series subwoofers and speakers.
Anyway I'm just having fun. Mate you will be alright with this next to your gas tank.

Didn't you know rear loading the sub makes you accerlerate faster?
But it will be fine, cool sub (expensive too) i've never heard of them before, but they seem to get some good reviews.
I'm also intrigued by its 96.7 sensitivity rating. That's pretty up there in way of subs.

Yeah I can't wait to put this bad boy in my car lol, I'm just struggling to find dimensions for a ported box as there isn't that much info on them. Thanks for the reply's too

the "sensitivity" is given at 2.83volts (which is 1 watt into 8 ohms)
but the sub is actually a dual 1.5ohm sub, so coils in parallel, means 0.75ohms, and with 1watt/1meter, it'll be more like 86dB@1w/1m
its what some manufacturers do to try and make their subs look better.
at the end of the day, your gas tank will be fine, but with a gas tank between the boot and cabin, don't expect big numbers at all, aim for mid to high 130's at best.
Yeah I'm not expecting high numbers yet but I am gonna get it changed to a donut tank which will go in the spare wheel well so there will be nothing to stop the volume from coming into the cabin

Good idea.
EDIT: Man I've never had so little luck finding box specs for a sub. You have let me down Google. Maybe give Critical Mass a call.

What dimensions are you trying to find? If you have the TS specs you can run them though some sub building programs.
If your main aim is just day to day listening, then a lower tuning, somewhere around 32-34 hz should be fine. I'd probably be looking somewhere around a 2.0 cu ft, after displacement. I'd use a 6'' port flaired at both ends.
If you don't know much about ported enclosures, i'd just start out with a sealed enclosure for the time being.
I'm just after what size box like how many cubes etc I want to play music loud. I was thinking around 2.5cubes tuned to 35hz? How does that sound?

sounds fine, just do that.
