    Default VE Head unit

    hey guys.

    i got my ve and i heard there was going to be new dash units that can be installed so you can install after market head units and dvd players.
    just wondering if anyone knows anything about it or if they will bring one out.

    You might have to upgrade your dash to make it work, so if you want all the gadgits, DVD GPS etc just bolt in a Calais unit...

    You can't just grab a higher spec unit and plug and play. The units require programming changes to the car, the unit, and changes to the climate control / AC system. Very expensive, worth more than the replacement unit itself. I only found this out after making basically the same enquiries as the OP.

    TTT90 - Right now the only option you have as far as replacing the source entirely, is to fit a single DIN unit under the heater controls. Nothing has been released (to my knowledge) that allows easy install of any aftermarket sources. The Blaupunkt unit is just too integrated, and controls more than just audio in some of the upper spec models, most likely it will never happen.

    Your on your own with a very complicated wiring harness , and some very time consuming and expensive fascia modifying if your dead keen on anything beyond a single DIN install....
