I just bought alpine spr-17s. 6.5 inch 2 way component type r splits for my front doors. They are 110w RMS each. what power amp should i get because alot of the 4 channel amps are between 50-90w rms x 4 @ 4 ohms. the really expensive and high wattage ones over 400 bucks are able to do between 110-150w rms x 4 @ 4 ohms. I know you can bridge amps so i can get like a 500w kenwood thats cheap and has 130W x2 at Bridged 4ohms instead of a high powered and expensive alpine or kicker but will it be enough for my 110w rms speakers? i heard it can be bad to bridge the amp because it causes damping and clipping problems and wont last as long?
If i get a brand like kenwood or fusion for my amplifier will it make a difference to my alpine sound compared to a alpine or jl audio amp.............if they are the exact same specs?
Amps pretty much don't sound any different. I wouldn't worry about changing the damping factor, day to day listening isn't likely to be an issue. I've even seen cars aimed at competing in SQ events and have amps with bridged channels , so it really isn't something to worry about.
Bridging an amp dosen't make any difference to clipping. All your doing when bridging a 4 ch amp is making each channel run at half its usual impedance. Impedance levels won't cause an amp to clip a signal, running out of power would though.
