Hey all.
Basically, I've got everything I need for my install but have a few questions on a few last things. This is what I'm running.
Alpine AVH-4200DVD
Alpine SPR-17s (Front splits)
Alpine SPR 17c (rear)
Alpine MPR-F300
2x 12" Pioneer subs in box with Sony Amp.
My question is, due to running 2 amps, do I need a distribution block or something? As I'm covered for the sub wiring (the power cable is 4g) I'd still need a kit for my 4 channel amp, so I'm thinking about going with THIS and using THIS block as it accept 4g and 8g (if I need a distro block?)
In the VZ, the parcel shelf has an indent for 6x9's with a metal sheet under it, so it'd need cutting, however, my rear speakers are 6.5", so should I put these in the rear door and not worry about the parcel shelf?
So your amp is allready installed using a 4 awg wiring kit correct? If so ....
Your better off just buying a seperate wiring kit for your 4 ch amp. 8 awg will be fine for a 50 x 4 amp.
It's better to leave the 4 awg in place for the subs, rather than splitting it into short 8 awg runs for either amp.
By the time you spend $15 plus another $57 for the wiring kit then pay for both items to be shipped you may aswell just gone out and bought a seperate wiring kit.....
Amp isn't installed, but I have the 4g wiring kit good to go.
The thing about that distro block is that is accepts 4g and 8g, so I could have a short 4g wire from the battery to the block, the from the block a 4g going to the subs and an 8g going to the speaker amp. Or is there no point in this? Just put both directly on the battery?
Your still drawing the same amount of current through the 4 awg even though it's being split. So basically you are running 2 amps from a 4 awg power cable.
A 4 ch 8 awg kit would be about the same price, but each to their own. I always run a seperate power cable for each amp, i've never used distro blocks. Other's prefer to use them...
Either way will be fine, just up to you which way you want to do it.....
Just not sure now whether to [ut the 6.5" speakers in the rear door or rear parcel shelf (door would be MUCH easier)
