Just thought I'd share a project me and a mate have been working on recently.
Seen one or two simple ones at random events in the past and always loved the idea. Had a spare council bin and some of my mates old sound system left over, so we started to build!
2x type R 6.5" splits
2x type R 6.5" coaxials
Type R 12" sub
Alpine ida-x305s headunit with remote
120gb ipod
Amp and volt gauge's
Power antenna
Led lighting
DBkill sound deadener
Built-in 40amp charger
12v to 240v inverter (with powerpoint outlet!)
Optima D34 yellowtop battery
Alpine mrp-m500 mono amplifier
Alpine mrp-f600 4 channel amplifier
Bonnet pins
Tonne of wiring!!
It takes about 45min-1hr for full recharge (from dead flat) on a 40amp charger and last about 5-6 hours on a moderate volume. Ill let the pictures tell the story

That looks pretty cool mate. What's the go with the ports and all the drivers sharing the same enclosure, is it actually designed a certain way or is that just how you have put it together?
unfortunatley not, we're now thinking about making a second (cheaper) one that wouldnt matter if it was to get knocked around a bit lol
Honestly, the ports are really only for looks. Sectioning off the drivers from each other was put into the too hard basket, I would have liked to enclosed the sub off but just never happened

So that's where that guys bin went.
Welcome to the internet where people have opinions that you might not like
Yeah i was wondering what port tuning you came up with (if you did) using two ports and what is quite a large enclosure for a 12''. I know it's most likely too late now but maybe just sectioning the sub off so it's in it's own sealed enclosure, i imagine it would tighten the bass up quite a bit. Then again i've never heard audio gear of any sort coming out of a wheelie bin before so it may / may not matter.
Anyways you did an awesome job mate.
Looks mad as man , well done![]()
Wouldn't it be better with those ports rather than sealed? If it was sealed, the sub would be effecting the other speakers pulsations.
Thats pretty extreme......great work
Ive seen a few getting around, but havent seen one strengthened with steel yet! I noticed youve got a pin setup to lock down the lid, but do you have a rubber gasket or sealer?
150db in a commodore =
thats quiet impressive, hats off to thinking outside (the square)
cant wait for wheelie v2![]()
I want one!
Thats pretty sweet man, Cudos!
Cheers for the comments
If its the inside your refering to its sound deadening not steel lol. we added a foam gasket around the lid, theres virtually no rattles which is a win
Ill try get some better pics/vids tomorrow during the daytime. inside still looks like a rats nest of wires
