Gentlemen, I am after advice when it comes to installing some aftermarket four inch speakers in the dash of my VN. I know the better option is sixes in the door pods, but this is the way I've chosen to go
I've noticed that the factory speakers only have three mounting screws whereas the other speakers I have are four point. How do guys usually get around this? Do you just try and line up two and be satisfied or is there some trick to it?
Also, when I pulled the vents apart to get to them the insulating foam turned to dust. Whats the purpose of the foam?
Thanks guys.
Not sure on that foam, i had the same problem, perhaps it just rots, or gets damaged from being in direct sunlight....
I've thrown a few 4'' sets in for people, and each time i've either had to bend one of the mounting tabs in order for the speaker to fit, and in one case i had to grind a tab off completely. Measure your mounting depth too before deicing on a set......
No worries. That's pretty much where I'm at- I'll cut one tab off and try and bend the rest so they fit in with the mount.
Most I have seen are just bolted in by 1 hole or not even bolted in at all. It makes a good spot for tweeters though if you get some VS door pods and some splits.
