I know everyone probably always gets this question, but i just recently bought a 04 vy series 2 ute, and im thinkin bout getting a new sound system, but dont wanna change the headunit. but even now while everything is stock, when i play "burnt" cd's it sounds like shit, will that change once i get new speakers (splits) or would that be coming from the headunit, i dont wanna change the headunit but all suggestions are more than welcome
if it's only crud on burnt discs, it's more than likely the audio quality on the burnt discs themselves.
IE: low bitrate mp3/wma, or or dodgy rip...
are what format are the discs burnt as, and are they transcoded?
Changing the speakers isn't going to help it, your head unit only pumps out about 18W a channel - there's your main problem.
but you can try getting Amp pre outs and thus connect a amp to your speakers....
CD's being a digital medium work in the "ON/OFF", they is either audio or not. The poor quality is, as Coast_Calais says, due to the encoding on the burnt CD. Anything below 128kbps will sound terrible, even itunes uses 192 as default.
The h/u and speakers will not change this.
