    Default vn commodore alternator upgrade

Hi I'm buying a 250 amp alternator for my commodore from the states.... It's for a Buick Rivera with a 3.8L v6.... I know it's gonna fit the only promblem is my commodore has a 2 pin regulator and the Buick has a 4 pin.... Is there a way to wire it up to work for a 2 pin

99% of professional stereo installs don't have a bigger alternator. You will be fine with the stock one.

your going to have to have your car revving its tits off to be able to get it to charge that high. ever noticed how much the revs drop with the stock one when you load it up? and its only prob putting out 20-30amps.

and most yank cars have a different regulator. lots of them don't run warning lights etc, and have a 4 pin denso reg.

not really depends how small the pully is on the alternator and where the charge rate line is 4 it 2 start charging.

tho saying that the smaller the pully u put on it the more ud likely 2 wear out the bearings faster.

alternator from a statesman or calais 85amp is good ... 140 amp from VPW is good also but prob with the bigger amp alternator is some dont put out 13-14v on idle only @2000 rpm they start charging

Get 2 optima batteries one red top starting battery and a yellow top to go in the boot to power just the subs .... ( BTW i can get u a really good price on these batteries )

you need good batteries aswell as an alternator to charge them
Stroker ... fun or work ... Both can be done Sideways !!!

    Really? What is it?

I also don't believe you need the alternator. I used a stock alternator for my old 2800Wrms (or 56000Wmax ) stereo.

Bosch make a 120 amp alternator that is the same as the original commodore one (mounting holes line up, not sure bout regulator side of things though). Im planning to get one of these myself. A good idea would be to do the "big 3" as the stock charge wire and earths are absolute shyte
