Default VE omega HU to rear speakers and amp via high level input question.

Howdy. Ive already looked over forums but cant find the exact information. I want to bring my old sub and amp from my ex VR and stick it into my VE. I used to run my rear speakers off my aftermarket head unit and run my front splits and sub off my 4 channel amp. I cant remember exactly how it was wired before in my vr because my much smarter friend did most of the install.

My amp has high level inputs on it. Its a coustic 480QE. So i can run speaker level from my Factory HU to the amp in the boot. I know some people advise on using an LOC, and i will if i really have to, but at the moment i will try without. In my old setup i sent amp channel 1 and 2 to splits and bridged 3 and 4 to sub. Can someone nice person explain the best way to still do this and still send signal to my rears straight from my HU. Can i still do it using the high level input? im a bit confused.

    thanks.

Mate i had the excatct same set up in my VS. Now i run a VZ.

I just finished installing my Amp, LOC and wiring last weekend.
Don't bother with the high level inputs. You will have probs from day dot.
The LOC is soo easy to install (wish i did it when i got the car a year ago).

The only main diff from your old set up is you just need the LOC to make RCA's. Because Holden can't find a head unit with RCA's.

Run you 12v from batt to Amp
Run a Accessories wire from Amp to HU, normally a yellow wire. (don't quote me look into it)
    Earth the Amp
Now leave the Amp for now.

Get into the front doors, get out ya Stock speakers. Replace with new splits. Run the speaker wire to the Amp.

I think maybe leave the rears on the HU.

    For LOC
    Go behind the head unit
Locate the front speaker wires. Cut them and connect them to the 4 wires on the LOC.
Secure the LOC somewhere behind or under the dash.

Now depending on how far it is from your Amp to the LOC. You will need RCA cables to run that distance (taking into account tuck-ins into mouldings etc.

    For sound set up.
Go somewhere where you can crank up the music.
Find the Max and best sound quality on the rears that are running off the HU 1st.
Then keeping the music on max for the front, adjust the front splits to there max via the Amp and Subs also.

    Hope that kinda helps ya
    Brendan

    Thumbs up

Thanks dude. Yeah what you said sounds good. It actually makes sense compared to the confused mess in my head.

    Cheers.

How do you access the headunit?
