Unfortunately, to remove a Toyota headunit you have to remove pretty much the entire dash and then to install an aftermarket headunit I would need a dash kit all the way from the US.
So here's my idea I can see that there is alot of space under the existing headunit, so I was thinking of getting a new headunit, and then mounting it under the exsisting headunit and running all new wiring to each speaker and then a new positive wire to the battery and a Accessory positive to the fuse box.
I cannot see any reason why this wouldn't work, but I was keen to see what you guys had to say
The other Question is what do you guys think about the BOSS 750DI Headunit?
I can get it cheap as and it has aux, usb, flash drive and SD card support.
So I would like to know what you guys think
BOSS 750DI MP3 AM/FM Reciever Wth Dock Station - Head Decks - Car Audio
Flash Drive support is important to me because I don't actually own a MP3 player or a Cellphone which can![]()

Boss audio head units are cheap and nasty. How ever in saying that for what you want they should work.

Just grab that one mate it's basic simple and covers everything you need.

You sure mate?
Not worth the extra money to get like a Panasonic, JVC or Sony?
Don't really want to buy something and then kicking myself because I could have got something better for a bit more.
Well either way mate Your help is much appreciated mate, keep up the good work.
oh and 1 last question what sort of wiring should I use?
I have to run new wire to each speaker and a new one to the battery and an new acc wire to the fuse box I assume.
I had a look at the wires at dicksmith today but couldn't decide as there were so many different gauges.
oh and also do head units normally come with the fuses supplied or do I need to get those aswel.

Scrap the whole Boss 750 idea
after reading some more reviews of it I was hearing about screens breaking and flimsy design.
However I can get either the
JVC KDR-416
Or
Panasonic CQ-RX322W for $160

stick to known main brands with the head unit man
If you can get the brand name stuff by all means go for it. JVC have really stepped up over the years.

i run a JVC head unit.. can vouch for how good these are these days.. , mines a higher spec model than the one you mentioned, but they are well worth the money..
The installations sounds good too, but make sure your aerial coax connection is moved over to new head unit and also check that the aerial is/is not electronic mast
I'll try and get the JVC one but I think it may be out of stock so if it is i'll just get the Panasonic.
The Americans are good at making up strange shit, so not the aerial is not electric pop up it is actually in the wheel well or something like that....
Will probably grab about 6-7 metres of speaker cable from dicksmith to wire it all up.

Ok well they only had the Panasonic in stock
It's a pretty nice unit I must say, purchased 12m of 18 gauge and an aerial extension from super cheap.
Have the left front and left rear all working but unfortuently I ran out of sunlight so I will have to do them tomorrow
however just those two wired up sounded greatand no more shitty reception because I no longer need a band expander
1 thing I didn't like was Screen graphics that were giving my a fit but I think it's probably because I need to set the time and radio stations ect.

Only thing you'll hate about the pioneer is that it doesn't have Aerial control haha. (dunno if you car has up down or anything though)
