doing this upgrade atm with a s2 ute
i just brought my converter from jay car same one is sold in repco aswell price $16.95
after looking round on net had some troubles finding any others. The converts only do 2 channels so if you do front speakers you need 1 if you do front and back you'll need 2 and if doing a sub aswell i'm just going to split the rear RCA's to do the sub aswell as the head unit doesnt have a separate line for the sub.
As for speakers its more a personal taste i like Alpine or pioneer as these are quite crisp and clear sound i tend to stay away from sony as they seem to give a bit to much base making them not as clear.
I'm putting in pioneer 6.5 inch in door with splits in dash from what i hear the door should just sit in to the speaker hole with some slight trimming needed but i havent got that far yet will post up when completed
thanks for the reply mate, ive got a ute so theres no need for rear speakers. im thinking ill just get some nice splits and feed them as much power as i can.
what is the converter called ?
does anyone know if it would be better to use a converter or to find an amp that will take speaker wire ?
also as for speakers ive had a listen to a couple and liked the rockford fosgate T1652-s and the alpine type Rs . any one have advice on these two speakers and poibly a 2 chanel amp to rum them to full potential without spending million's
and if i want to later hook up a sub will i have to split the front RCAs or is there another way ?
cheers

I run the following in my VE ssv ute;
High Pass Amp
2 x 6.5" focal splits
1 x 13" focal sub
Everything runs off the amp with no line out converter needed. Sounds incrediable - I got mine installed by a professional shop, I would suggest you do the same.
is that sub a slim line or just normal? I have been looking into the slim subs just to fit nicely in the cabin. But i am seriously considering doing a total focal set up.
I'm running Alpine type R 6.5" splits and a Polk 4" centre speaker. I'm looking into getting this alpine amp MRP-F600 to run the splits and a sub.
