I'm looking for a replacement for my VZ head deck. Mainly looking for an iPod input but still be able to use my steering wheel controls. Anyone have any ideas?
Cheers!
Most new decks support OEM steering wheel controls. Few third party products around that help with this.
The CAT10, from Car Audio Technology, (THE CAT) uses either;
a) converting steering wheel inputs to infra-red signals and beaming them to the deck via the remote reciever
b) direct line in to new decks which have the jack for it. About $300 last time I checked.
Aerpro also do a unit specifically for Commodore models. I almost bought one yesterday, which plugs into the car's existing harness and then into the new deck wiring. About $130.
And most new decks will have either iPod direct support, or a USB port which you can plug in the iPod cable and plug the iPod into, does the same job, I just find it more versatile for USB drives and other stuff.

The VZ is here! About time!
Does ur ipod use the auxilary 3.5mm jack? if so id recommend ASR (Gregs or pheddy AKA) kit that way u can even get the combo kit that has the auxilary input and 2 pairs of RCA out puts so u can hook up a couple amps later if u wish which then still keeps the stock look and it doesnt effect the steering wheel controls wat so ever.
